Paradisco

[Flash 9 is required to listen to audio.]

While Charlotte Gainsbourg and Beck have teamed up together before (I.R.M.), the singer / producer pairing may have just risen to a new level.  The first single from their soon to be released album ‘Stage Whispers’ (out on 12/13) is a perfect blend of her soft vocals with his funky sounds.

If you looked closely at ‘The Industry’ side of Spin’s Hip Hop Galaxy diagram, you might have reacted like me and wondered if it really matters that people think those listed in the ‘Rapper’s Who’ve Sold Their Soul’ have actually sold their soul.  I don’t care though, I pretty much like them all…especially A$AP Rocky.  (ironically, the only artist I can’t stand that’s included in this roll call is from my own hometown…hint: she’s the lone woman)

So check out this new video from A$AP Rocky.

Black Star is back!

Mos Def & Talib Kweli are set to release a followup to their one and only Black Star album, ‘Mos Def and Talib Kweli Are Black Star’…all we had to do was wait 13 years!  Kweli is promising that the Aretha Franklin inspired mix tape, ‘Black Star Aretha’, will release sometime next year.

In the meantime, the duo is currently touring (if you’re in LA, tickets are still available for their Club Nokia show on December 16) with two new tracks already circulating online.  Visit Black Star Hub to listen to and download the new tracks.

Hell yeah…

Diagram the Hip-Hop Galaxy

Wait, another diagram?  Ironically (or not), those playing on my stereo fall primarily into three of these groups: ‘Working Class Rappers’, ‘Hardworking Weedheads’ and ‘Old-Head Underground’.

Where do your hip hop tastes fall?
